Tammy Holland is a wild card... a fascinating, highly talented, creative wild card. As an understudy to Wendy Croskrey (ACNM First Friday alum), She is a master of sculpture, painting, and fearlessly dabbles with what is in between.
"Holland grew up along the Yukon River in a village called Rampart. She drew much of her inspiration from the natural beauty around her." According to Holland, "I found that I was painting and sculpting things that I experienced as a child,” Holland said." - The Sun Star
"Adventurer is the correct title for Adams, who has taken part in numerous escapades across Alaska. One such adventure (which included falling into an icy crevasse) he recently discussed at length for The Climbing Zine.
Through photographs, Adams tells the story of the joy he and his partners find in their exploration of Alaska’s vast wilderness; showing the harshness, austerity and the beauty of the Alaskan landscape." - via www.downtownfairbanks.com.
Nearly all of Erica Mathew's life has involved art. As a child, she developed her creativity at her mother's stained glass business in Fairbanks, AK. Eventually, she found her way to glass mosaics inspired by the Alaskan nature that surrounded her.
According to her Erica, "Mosaics intrigue me mostly because of the calming process of puzzling small pieces of glass together to form a beautiful and larger image. Each mosaic has hundreds of pieces that I precisely place. Every piece I create is unique in its own way. No two pieces are, or could ever be the same." You can check out Erica's website here →
Suzie Humphrey is an exciting, fresh-faced artist from North Pole, AK. After growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area, she eventually married and found her way to North Pole with her husband to start a family - eight children to be exact. Since that move, she has been All-Alaskan. Water color is her art form and she is great at it, extracting most of her inspiration from nature itself. This is her first show and first attempt to showcase her skills in a public setting.
Think you can guess who your mystery guest is? Here are 3 clues. Let's see how good you are!
- Recipient of the Fairbanks Artist of the Year Award.
- Has their work displayed at the UAF Museum of the North
- Long time resident of Ester, AK
