What is massage therapy?

Massage is the manipulation techniques to soft tissue, generally intended to reduce stress and fatigue while improving circulation. Research studies have proven massage therapy has a positive effect on many chronic conditions including:

  • low back pain
  • arthritis
  • bursitis
  • fatigue
  • high blood pressure
  • diabetes
  • immunity suppression
  • smoking cessation
  • depression
  • and more...

Massage also helps relieve the stress and tension of everyday living that can lead to disease and illness.

How will I feel after a massage?

Most people feel very relaxed. Some experience relief from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. After an initial period of feeling slowed down and sleepy, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity which can last for days. Since toxins are released from your soft tissues during a massage, it is recommended you drink plenty of water following your massage.

Must I be completely undressed?

Most massage techniques are traditionally performed with the  patient unclothed, however, it is entirely up to you what you want to wear. You should undress to your level of comfort. You will be properly draped during the entire session. You will be covered at all times to keep you warm and comfortable. Only the area being worked on will be exposed.

Massage therapy services at ACNM are provided by, Brandee Beers,  Regina Letonek, and Alyce Welch.
