What do you like to treat and why?
I love introducing people to myofascial massage. I feel the majority of people can benefit greatly from the specificity of this treatment style. It can be gentle or very intense but always targeted at releasing restrictions and adhesions in the muscle fibers and connective tissues. I’m really big on educating my clients so they know what I’m doing in our session. This also allows the client to give me feedback that guides me to helping them more effectively.
How long have you been in Alaska and why did you move here?
I moved to Alaska 5 years ago. When I was looking for a place to move for better job opportunities, Fairbanks seemed like a fun adventure with many possibilities, and I was already connected to people here because I have a lot of cousins that grew up in North Pole.
Where have you lived before Alaska?
I was born and raised in Pennsylvania and lived there until I moved to Alaska in 2011. I also lived in Limerick, Ireland for one college semester as an exchange student, and I lived in Fayetteville, North Carolina for a year while attending Massage Therapy school.
I have worked as a Bank Teller for several years and really enjoy it, however I view being a Massage Therapist as my first real career.
I’m passionate about Massage Therapy and it’s not just something I do for a job.
Hobbies and other interests?
Reading, movies, ice skating, family, church community, meditation, yoga, heading to the gym.
I have two sisters, their husbands, and one nephew here in Fairbanks and a brother in Arizona.
I haven’t had the privilege of starting my own family yet; so for now, I’m having a great time being “Aunt Gina” to my nephew and my cousins’ 4 kidos!
