"I really like working with people, helping them to feel better and live better." Specialties: I started as a general practitioner, but I mostly treat patients with autoimmune disease, cancer, heart disease, allergies, depression, and endocrine disease. My true expertise is finding and treating the underlying cause of the illness. I trust in the ability of people to heal once the true cause of an illness is found and overcome. My job as a physician is to find the cause and supply the treatment and the knowledge that will remove or compensate for the cause. True healing is in our nature. Time spent in Alaska: I moved to Alaska in 2000. I wanted to own my own clinic, in a place where I could make a difference. I wanted to live in a community with a lot of good people and characters. Previous locations: I lived in Mesa, Arizona and Milwaukie, Oregon. Previous careers: I worked in restaurants in my youth. Starting in the kitchen; I washed dishes and ended as the head cook. In college I worked as a waiter in a busy restaurant. I learned tons about multitasking and keeping a cool head under pressure. After college I taught science and health at a junior high school for two years. After medical school I taught histology, anatomy, embrology and laboratory diagnosis before becoming the Chairman of Diagnostics at the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in Tempe, Arizona. I also worked as the Chief Medical Officer in the teaching clinic before moving to Alaska. Hobbies: I am enthusiastic about outdoor adventures such as Nordic skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, running, camping, and rock hounding. We offer many different healing modalities because all people are different, but all the practitioners at ACNM share a commitment to working with nature to achieve real, full, lasting health. |
